Default head work?

How much difference did have your heads re-worked make? ie. ported and polished

There are so many variables, but I will hazard a wild guess that something less than 1/2 the upper range RWHP my bike gained (it gained 42 hp over stock) was due to ported heads and revalved heads.

From headwork alone? Man, I'd like to see that before and after dyno sheet. Wonder where the torque went?

Check out his signature. More than just head work.

Then, in my signature, you can see what I gained from the 95" kit with headwork and cams.

Heads are just part of the system that makes power. You have to remember that you can build them for high HP, which is not really usable on the street. Or you make some torque which is very usable on the street. You are looking for high flow rates at moderate RPMs for street use and the outrageous velocity for the track use. This has to work in unison with the cam, compression, exhaust etc. that you have selected. You may have all the best parts but they don't work together as a team.

Reason I'm asking is I have a 07SG with a 103 stage 2. Was thinking maybe reworking the heads or going with a different set would bump up the uper rpm range some. Seems to fall off some after @4500rpm

Heads are were its at! Since you already have a 103", adding heads or reworking your stock ones will get you at least 10 more hp.

I did head work on my 2000 1200 Sportster it has stock cams and 10.75 compression and makes right at 85HP at the rear wheel, that's close to a 100HP at the crank just like a Buell but with smaller valves and cams and it cranks on from the crack of the throttle to 6000 RPM's.
Head work can make a phenomenal differance!!
