Courtesy to all. Respect to those who have earned it.

Give others the respect when respect is due, no one have any problem doing it. But hard to respect someone when he blasts his pipes for 2 min at the light or rides drunk and pee everywhere. He must respect himself before he will get respect from others.

I give respect for most part until not deserved anymore...some second chances just in case or benefit of the doubt but i always try to earn it. Once you have earned it. It usually lasts.

It could not be put more clearly.Respect is also something that has to be earned,it can also be lost.A lot of our elected leaders do not have mine.

I believe you should always give respect to a person you first meet. However for the long term it is something that must be earned. As for people who demand respect they usually don't deserve it.

I heard this on another forum from a similar discussion and it stuck with me... "Respect isn't earned, it is given. Disrespect is earned."
