Default Respect

Not wanting to open another can of worms, but this was the best definition of this I've read. (Thanks, to Hoop and his Grandpa!)

"You should treat every man you encounter with respect, but treating a man with respect and respecting a man are two different things. The first is given, the second must be earned."

i almost agree. my only difference is, ill treat someone with respect, until they dont do the same to me. anyone who doesnt treat you with respect, or show you common courtesy, like youve shown them. doesnt deserve it back.

I think that is an excellent definition.

Everyone starts out on an equal footing with me. What happens after that is up to them.

I try to give them a reason to remember our meeting as a good one. I'm not always successful, but I try.

I like that. Never thought of it that way. Then there is FEAR ED that some confuse with respect. Then *****,HEART,NERVES OF STEEL. Also get confused with respect. Being a good Man Father Husband Son Friend to me is respecting the man. Giving of ones self.

I know a guy from a different forum who demands respect. He gets it with little to no hesitation.

Been taught that all my life. Goes along with my Father raised me to be a man. Respect gets you respect. Disrespect can get you attention. The thing I have learned is that it is easy to respect someone for what and who they are while not agreeing with what they do.
