ORIGINAL: Fandango6

As a side note, I think I read in HOG tales that if you are a HOG member, HOG will give you $50.00 if you complete a HD accredited course.
From the HOG website:
Official 2006 guidelines:

1. You must be a current H.O.G. member on the date the course began, and you must send the proper documentation within three months of the course completion date.

2. Reimbursement will be in the form of a H.O.G. coupon, which may be applied toward H.O.G. membership renewal or H.O.G. and Genuine Harley-Davidson® merchandise.

3. Limited to reimbursement for one course annually.

4. Maximum reimbursement is US $50*, and does not cover the cost of training books, videos, etc.

5. Tuition reimbursement coupon and/or pin and patch can be obtained by submitting a completed form with a copy of course receipt and MSF (MMIC) or Rider's Edge certificate indicating successful completion of the course. Forms are available online, at your local Harley-Davidson dealer, or by contacting the H.O.G. office. Send forms to: Safe Rider Skills, c/o H.O.G. office.

6. After a minimum of 12 members from one chapter complete an accredited rider training course during the 2006 calendar year and have submitted their individual certificates to H.O.G., a Safe Rider Skills chapter plaque will automatically be sent to the sponsoring dealer.

I did the MSF Course in Savannah Georgia and it was a state run class. I give it high marks. Lots of riding, a great instructor, and a great little Nighthawk 250 to learn on. I think it was like $150.00...can't remember for sure. Got my motorcycle endorsement from the DMV the day after my completion certificate showed up in the mail and have not looked back since.

I took mine through A+ rider. It was 2 Days!!! First day...from 7-Noon is all class work. Going over the book. Watching a few videos. Asking question. From 1-6 it was all bike work. Everyone had their own bike. Day two...all bike work. From 7- 3.

IT WAS AWESOME AND IT WAS ONLY 180. I am not sure why some folks HAVE to go through stealers...because sometimes the local guys do it right.

The wife and I took our MSF course for $25 each.

5 hours classroom - way too busy with book work and videos to have time for checking out the sales floor.
10 hours on the range - again they kept it moving and instructional the whole time.

I sent in my request for the HOG reimbursment and pin - So it cost me nothing.

Oh yeah, It saves me money on my insurance discount for taking the course.
