mid controls would be the foot controls that are mounted off to the side of the motor on the frame and forward controls would be the foot controls that are more out in front of the motor on the frame, like on my bike.

Mid controls (look at the peg and brake location)...

Forward control (look again at the peg and brake location)...

Roger that, and thanks. I assume both sides - rear brake and gear shift? Does this allow floor plates?

One of my problems has been my steeltop boots and enough space between the peg and shifter arm.

Yes the forward controls would be the same for the shifter side. I don't know if they make a forward control for a floorboard, maybe a touring or bagger guy can jump in here and answer that. Most of the time with forward controls your foot (as seen from the side) sits with the heal at 7-8 o'clock and the toe at 2-3 o'clock (follow me?), I don't know how that would work with a floor board that sits parrelle (sp) to the ground.

Thumbs up Forward controls for a bagger

Me too! I am interested in knowing about forward controls and footboards for my 03 RG. If anyone knows anything...please let us know.

I had the same problem with the shifter on my sporty. It is a simple matter of taking the shift lever off and rotating it til you have clearance. Had the same problem when I put mini floorboards on the dyna. Simple fix, just don't try to pry the lever apart. Don't ask me how I know.

The shift lever is on a splined shaft, remove and adjust accordingly to get your toe under it. The brake pedal may /should have some sort connecting rod to the rear brake resevoir that can also be adjusted.

I am not sure what the benefits are with forward controls?
I see a lot of riders mod their bikes from mid to forward controls.
Is there a comfort benefit?
