A manual might benefit you after reading this post My oil drain plug comes out very easily and always have. As others said,it is in the rear portion of the frame.

I believe you are thinking of the transmission drain plug.

The oil drain plug is below the oil tank. Follow the rubber line down from the oil tank and you should be able to find it.

The allen head plug in the block is hard to remove the first time. I remove it every time I change the oil to get that last 1/2 quart of dirty oil out. This is a tapered pipe plug. If you remove it DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN IT.

It is in the manuel that you are supposed to change oil and most of the nuts in general after your bike hits operating tempature. It makes a big difference removing nuts and bolts if they are hot.

a lift and an impact wrench may help as well. I wouldnt use it to put the nut back on though - like everyone has pointed out - it doesnt take much torque.

It certainly shouldn'tbe hard to undue. Many have said to make sure it's the right plug. I like the idea of taking it back to wherever the last oil change was done if it's a dealer. If not, you might as well proceed. A tip might be to get it good and hot. Take the bike out for a short 1/2 hour ride. Bring her back, tap on the bolt of couple of times not smack it, just tap it with a wrench right in the middle of the bolt. Then put a 5/8" socket on it, and it should just come right off. Good Luck

I tap the allen wrench with a rubber mallet. Always works for me.

Been said, but sounds as if he's trying to remove the plug in the front bottom of the crankcase...that opening is put there for machining purposes only, and the bolt/plug is loctited in at the factory...and it's NOT to be removed...

The trans and oil plug look exactly the same. Definatly get a manuel, it helped me figure out which one was which. Use the hammer tapping method also.
