BadBob...that looks pretty comparable to the 725-mile stretch on I-40 from Albuquerque to Fort Smith, AR I did one day back in June. The whole trip had been so cool, with storms blowin thru, bringin even more cool air...that I spent 'bout a week in leathers in NM and UT. Then, I started headin home, and someone turned on the oven...whew, it got hot, long, and boring! Sure didn't help that my brain settled on one tune for that long day...used to be one of my favorite songs...haven't listened to it since I got home. Oh yeah...then I did 'nuther 725-mile day on to the house the next day...worse heat of the trip was 'tween Memphis and Nashville. I sure was glad to see the cool, green hills of East TN.
I know that stretch of road well. Trust me on this, it's paradise compared to I-70 between Salina, KS and Denver, CO.

You just went at the wrong time. One year we provided some excitement for travelers by having the bridge over the Arkansas River collapse.
Anyone ever ride on the roads in Indiana? I swear we have the worst interstate sections in the country. Pot holes big enough to be basements and humps tall enough to launch my bike off the ground. I was heading North on I-65 from Indianapolis and I actually hit a hump that sent me in the air like a ramp when I was doing 80. I saw it coming and it took up the whole lane and there was a car beside me in the next lane. I almost chit my pants. And after 100 miles or so I'm tired of swerving.
Pretty much the same view you get crossing North Dakota on I-94 from Fargo to Bismarck. Had to pull over at a rest area and take a nap...twas the most boring stretch of road I've ever been on.
