I've made that run across I-70 many times. Usually in a vehicle. I was comuting from KC to Denver weekly. Crossing the great plain you understand how we can produce enough grain to feed the world. I've found the best time to do it is at night.

And something funny I saw once. I came up on a biker that had his throttle lock on and he was leaned back against his packs like he was watching TV. Both arms were spread wide like a cross and he would bend each arm either up or down to control his direction and maintain his place in his lane. I followed him for at least 70 miles while he did this. Totally relaxed , just doing something to ward off the boredom I assume.

I rode from Wichita,KS to Estes Park,CO, twice, many years ago. Both times I did it, it was very windy. The wind was constant from the south and you are riding east or west so you are always leaning the bike into the wind. Kept hoping for trees or a big hill to block the wind, but none to be found on that part of I-70.

Which is worse, boring or white knuckling. Left Grants Pass one morning headed back to Eugene. Decided o take the coast, found a road on the Map that should get me over to the coast. Soooo away I go, find the road and head for the mountains. I get about 20 minutes into it and find myself on a old logging road. 1 lane of baldy broken up asphalt, finally turns into a dirt road, about 3/4's of a lane and 30k ft. striaght down on one side and straight up on the other side. So by now I'm about 45 minutes into this, no way I'm turning back..Long story short, 50 miles and 2 hours later I'm over the mountain and back to a 2 lane black top. That sucked...........
