Problem with your analogy is getting stopped at a checkpoint for a few seconds is not a violation of any right guaranteed by the US Constitution. Going through your personal and private communications is clearly a violation of the 4th Amendment

"The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated"

Won't be long before the bastids require BAC breathalyzer ignition interlocks on cars, trucks, bikes. Not that there won't be inconvenient ways around those, but it is a slippery slope of encroachment. It's all about boiling the frog....

I appreciate the intelligent response. However I can't get the picture out of my head of someone stopping me as I walk down the street, politely requesting of me, "May I see your papers please?" Then what?

Whew, I didn't see this one coming. With all the crap we put out about people driving drunk (Billy Lane comes to mind) I'm surprised at the reverberation from sobriety check points. They're posted with the times and locations. Two choices. Don't drink and drive there, or simply don't drink and drive. How hard is this?

No cool aid here. Many of the WWII internment camps have been completely overhauled, many of them expanded. KBR, a subsidiary of Halliburton, had contracts to Homeland Security building detention camps at undisclosed locations all over the United States. Around $385 million if I remember correctly. The same people who built all the new internment camps in Iraq and Afghanistan.

FEMA, under Homeland Security, took bids from real estate and engineering firms to construct large scale internment camps. There is exact locations of many of them, and since when can you trust the government?

If I'm not mistaken, the 2nd amendment was put forth to control tyrannical governments, so they don't get out of hand. More and more freedom killing bills are passed through the house and senate as the years go on.

Since when has government been able to be trusted? Never, and our founding fathers knew it.

You can keep your eyes shut to these horrendous acts, but with every thing happening you can bet your *** the establishment has themselves backed up.

I'd rather die on my feet than live on my knees.

Because they don't have a loved on that's been killed by a soccer mom running a red light.
I know just as many, if not more, people who have been killed or seriously injured by people doing stupid acts than those getting hit or wrecking due to drunk driving. Hell, I almost died a little over a month ago by an old lady who blew a stop sign and t-boned me. If I would have been going any faster than 25mph it wouldn't have ended well for me. It still didn't end well, but I got away with my life.

Where is the "Reasonable Suspicion" we are pulled over for?

Too bad the US Supreme Court opined many MANY years ago, that DUI Checkpoints are legal.

You are correct in your assertation that the above amendment also applies to vehicles, however.

We think we have right? Japanese-Americans 1942 shows you all the right's we really have. In this day in age, we no longer have rights, we have granted privileges that we think are rights.

I have a feeling when push comes to shove, the core of American people will fight back.

Very constructive. Considering nothing in that post is related to Dr. Paul.

Sorry for being a non-interventionist, constitution abiding, sound money believing, individual liberty enjoying, free market thinker.

So what exactly makes him an idiot? The fact that he doesn't accept money from big corporations? That he is a war veteran, and has delivered over 4,000 babies while he was a practicing doctor? The fact the during the last campaign trail he recieved 49.5% of the money donated by those employed or retired from all branches of the US Military in the Republican party or that he led ALL candidates from both parties with over 1/4 of the money donated by the military branches? Wait, the same guy who was one of the only few to stand up to going into that mess of Iraq?

The fact that we are bankrupting ourselves and sparing our national security with 700 military bases around the world, troops in 130 countries, and all the propagranda?

Or is some kind of idiotic pandering just to your side because you think Sarah Palin is hot?

I bet if the "Po-po" went in da hood and did reasonable searches, ya know, ridding society of drugs and illegal guns it wouldn't be acceptable. Juicy Jackson would be all over it. Wouldnt happen, "Just sayin."

She was obviously a libertarian protesting the state's right to make her stop. Give the government an inch, they'll take a mile. Next they'll be charging a toll to drive on the road.
