I love softails as I had a Fatboy for 8 yrs. The Heritage is a nice sled just might want to beef up the suspension. One other bike you might consider in touring line is the Road King Custom. It's lowered one inch from other RK's. 2007 was last yr of RK Custom it had the 6 speed and 96 cu in engine and it looks sweet!

PS Didn't read all the way thru. Enjoy your Heritage bro !

I have an 08 anniversery hertitage and a 09 Ultra. I do like the feel of the 08 better.

One thing that I did that I do regret is I put V & H longshots on mine and they scrape really quick on a right turn IF the wife is riding with me. I wish I would have went with another pipe offering more clearance...just for your info

I told him thanx and took the long way home. Man it just feels good! This is a great riding bike.
I get a bonus in a couple months and I have already decided that at that time a set of mufflers are going on it.

Great service! I agree that the Heritage is a great riding bike. It is sooooo much smoother then my standard & just glides over rough spots. Before I purchased mine I took out an Ultra, Street Glide & Road King & just liked the overall ride & feel of the Heritage. I haven't had any regrets.

Thanks, I am enjoying it alot.
My buddy has a roadking kustom and has even lowered it more and really dressed it up.
If I could get his bike, then that is one touring bike I could and would be glad to ride.

Thanx for the info, I can see where that would be a problem with those pipes on the heritage.

One thing I have noticed with the Heritage is that riding on the same roads I rode the glide on feel completely different.
Around here they will do what my cousin calls, "redneck paving", its were they spray strips of tar on the road, put down really fine stone, then roll it in, then sand it down so all the tar is covered.
Now after a couple years, the rock will break away from the areas in between the tar strips.
This is hell riding a bike with a skinny front tire, like my 1200 custom had, pulls the bike all over.
The electraglide it would do this also but not as bad.
Riding the same road with the heritage and it doesnt pulll at all?
Also, going over bumps, the heritage is smooth, especially on the front end, whereas the glide wasnt as smooth, I guess its due to the heavy front end.
I went across a bridge that with the glide every expansion joint made that katunk sound as each tire went over, the heritage doesnt do that either.
Im telling you, to me its a smoother more comfortable ride and Im very glad I traded.
Thanx to all for your support, ride safe and ride often!

I got to agree totally. It has a Cadillac ride but still handles great. The front end is solid as a rock. I did notice a few surface scratches on top of my front fender & couldn't figure out where they came from. Finally I realized the fender was hitting the bottom of the soft fork bag when the shocks compressed. I had about 4" of clearance but it wasn't enough so I moved the bag up a bit. It's hard to get into now cause it's up against the headlight but I just keep my night glasses in there. The front end has a lot of suspension travel & just soaks everything up.

Just traded the wife's heritage on a 09SG. at first she wanted her heritage back and we did some handlebar adjustments and put a reach seat on, she is 5'6" and with the reach, she flatfoots easily now.

The heritage was a little tough on the bones on a long ride and if you are comfy on the EG, the ride won't be the same or near as good on the heritage. IMO

I tried the reach seat on my electra glide, also had the rear end lowered.
I was never very comfortable on the glide, after an hour of riding I felt like I had been riding a jackass for 8 hrs!
It just wasnt comfortable to me at all.
Now I can ride this heritage for 2 hrs and feel just fine, thats all the amount of time ive had at one time to ride since I bought it, but this weekend, if it doesnt rain that is, I will have lots of time to ride.
