If the bike fit him. That means feet flat sitting on the bike and elbows slightly bent while holding the bike straight up. It wasn't the size of the bike. There is a lifelong learning curve on riding motorcycles in all conditions. I see a lot of people out there who bought a bike and they are instantly qualified in their minds to ride. Egos and a lack of training or thought about adverse situations hurt.

I believe a bikers biggest danger is overconfidence and/or complacency. Which can take hold at any given time. With no fear, you have no respect for the danger.

Lots of different views.. and it's not my place to say right or wrong.. everyone's different. I started on dirt bikes at 13.. worked my up from there. And whether or not it's the same guy.. either way it sucks another biker died..

Same here. I'd say go out and get a dirt bike to play on and see how much it
helps you in your riding..

The way I see it is, it's ok for someone to have a lot of confidence as long as they also understand their limitations.

I have always felt that Harleys are NOT good first bikes. Not sportsters, not softails, not baggers, nothing. A good first bike should be no more than 250cc. Dirt bikes are a great way to get started.

I see the wisdom in your words. I firmly believe overconfidence contributed to my accident last year. Thank God I lived to ride again. Unfortunately some do not. It tears me up.
