I had a 2000 Indian Chief.
Nice bike. 88 c.i. S&S Engine.
Very reliable
Was NOT a Harley.
They are a little different now. Different engine etc.
I would not buy one again however.
They are beautiful and I hope they can manage to stay in business. The current owners are reportedly very savvy businessmen with experience in reviving old prestegious brands.
Try the V-Rod They are Very Good Handling Harleys. Have fun, Ride Safe
Rick From San Diego / TJ Mexico 1992 flhtc 2002 V-Rod soon to join the 260 club Brembo Calipers front & rear AW wheels Metzelers & Dyna Beads V-mods
They may be "very good handling Harley's" but in the motorcycle world, Harley's aren't at the top of the heap in the performance & handling department.
P.S.- Any cruiser, HD or metric, is way down the line in the handling department. They are just not designed for that.

Hopefully they've made the newer ones more rideable. They are a good looking bike, but that means nothing if the rider doesn't feel stable.
We're riding Indian clones.........get yer facts straight
I think there are only a few HD models that even remotely resemble an Indian. As much as I like the way the Indian looks there are a couple things I don't like. That HUGE teardrop headlamp is gaudy and the skirted front fender is just a little too big imo. From the handlebars back it looks pretty good, especially that engine, very classic looking.
The Indian clone comment was just poking some fun.
A lot of people don't realize Indian was first, and has had it's own look for a very, very long time.
