I've known too many people who have gone down and had show and tell with their battered helmets. It just makes sense to wear one.....period.[IMG][/IMG]
I've been using a helmet since I was 17. My helmet saved my life once about 20 years ago. My wife and I are now wearing Vega flip front full coverage helmets. I won't ride across the street without it. We had a girl injure herself on an ATV here in our small village last weekend. She rolled it and had a serious head injury. She was not wearing a helment. If she had been, it is probable that she would have walked away from the rollover.
There are non helmet lobbiest that have gotten helmet laws repealed in several states. Immediately following the law change fatalities in motorcycle accidents in those states rise sharply.
I guess they really loved that wind in their hair. Right up until their head was ripped apart, or crushed.
I know that in states without the law it is your decision. In the states that have the law "Their violating my rights"
Yea Yea Right. I saw a guy Memorial Day riding a Softtail with what had to have been a 6 year old on the back of the seat. Neither was wearing a helmet. The young boy was barefoot, in shorts, wearing a tee shirt.
I guess it was his decision to be stupid.
Ya do what you want. I won't get on a motorcycle without one.
I will not ride without my helmet. I hate wearing it, but the consequences of a crash and injury make it not an option. In southern Ohio, I think the vast majority of HD riders go without.
DOT approved helmet is the only way to go... Iused to not ride with one at all when I lived in IL. Believe it or not, it actually makes the ride better for me.
No arguments that if you go down and your face slides on the pavement if you have a helmet on, more than likely your face will still be there...
I've posted this before. This was with a helmet on. If it had been a full face helmet, there would have been no injuries to the face. If you choose to wear a helmet, give some serious thought to a full-face one!
