Just way too hot for me to ride with a FF helmet here MOST of the time!---- But the wife will not use anything else.
My wife is the same way, says she has no heat problem either. We were over in non helmet PA yesterday and I told her I was going to ride back to the border w/o a helmet just for fun. She about had a conniption fit and said I'd be riding alone.
Oh yea I said "well I'll have you know that I wear the pant's in this here family" To which she replied "yes that's true dear but if you want to get into mine when we get home, you'll wear your helmet".
As a Kid I road with no helmet at all. It was fun and I was stupid. As a reasonably responsible adult...I now ride 100% of the time with a Full Face helmet.
Since the heat index here in Memphis is often in the 105 to 115 range...I can attest that the FF is hotter but that you do adapt well to it. No tough Harley rider should let a little sweat deter them from a ride on these great machines.
Well, I saw a group of Booze Fighters yesterday and half of them were wearing full face helmets too. No shame in a full face, although I have been converted to half helmets quite a bit back. When I first got my fatboy I insisted on a full face and wore it 2 or 3 times as that is all I had ever worn. Then I got an ACC half helmet and I never went back.
And..... There you have it ladies & gentleman, the final word on the pro & cons of helmets, yessir, I'm sure you will ALL agree with me that nothing more needs to be added to all this wonderful informative back & forth debate. I think this has summed it all up and put a bow on it. I for one want to thank all those involved for a job well done.

Debate?. I thought we were just shooting the breeze over morning coffee.

It amazes me that these conversations could be had in a good natured fashion over a beer and face to face. But over the INTERNET and done semi anonymously and people get strident, emotional and often irrational. Go figure.
Personally, I like to discuss and try to do so with a modicum of logic and a lot of amiability. Not all ascribe to this however.
Sounds like an over-reaction to me. What's he going to do next time something hits him in the leg...go buy a suit of armour?

I've been pelted by bees, large flying bugs, rocks, grit, stung in the ear, just about everything. Never would I wear a full face helmet. All the power to your friend but that ain't my bag no matter how many times I get hit.
Non approved DOT doo-rag for me. Not even that half the time. I like the wind in the face and the visceral experience. I'll sell my bike before I'd wear one of those things. Maybe for a spacewalk or something...
I'd prefer to ride helmetless, but it is an imperfect world with UV rays that are making my dermatologist lots of dough and the "other guy", who's busy texting his or her squeeze from the driver's seat of a lifted pick-up.
