So... had my REAL first "holy $hit" moment the other day. Coming around a nice two-lane sweeper on my way home from work.... And a swell cager is half in my lane coming the opposite way! I think he must've been dozing... he swerves back.. I step on the rear brake... which comes loose for a split sec. He passed me... could've sworn he did one of those "damn! Sorry!" kinda hand waves.... Unfortunately being that I was going about 40mph I ended up hitting the gravel shoulder... oh and it's about 3 feet wide with a chain-link fence running alongside a major highway... the oncoming lanes at that!
Managed to bring the bucking bronco down to a halt, but man... those apes were all over the place.. as well as the back end. I'm sure the cager was watching in his rear-view and scared as hell I was gonna bail.
Well... I'm happy I didn't lock 'em up... must've learned something in class. Was also surprised I wasn't more shaken / freaked out. More ticked off than anything....
Well, all... keep the shiny side up.... glad I did.
Glad you kept it together and made all the right moves. Sucks to have an *** puckering moment but when it is over and all the pieces are still together it's a big relief. Hate the got away with it feeling cause I am always afraid I will pay for it later.
