Had the same problem on my Sporty. Had a luggage rack but the jacket had armor and wouldn't fold up. I would bungee it to the sissy bar but it looked like crap sticking out of both sides. Problem was solved when I bought the Ultra. Jacket now goes in the tour pack. Now I can even carry a small ice chest with cold water for those hot day rides.
What a bunch of "SISSY" boyz, SADDLEBARGES, yuck !!!
Solo, roll 'em up, jus' bungee leathers to seat/"SISSY" bar. (See pic) YES, red and blue bungees !!!
2 Up, gets rolled up, and bungee it to handlebars.
All the missylameeus chit goes into the "SISSY" bar bag.

Good Picture Gump! What are the chances of you telling us all about your Panhead? Back in the 60's I chopped a perfectly good 53 into an extended springer chopper. The wife and I put a lot of miles on that machine,at times she was so sore from the rigid, she could not get off the thing without help.
I roll mine up and tie it to the handlebars with 2 long strips of elk hide. Mountainmen called these strips "*****". They used them to tie all thier "possibles" to the horse. ***** are waterproof, they stretch and are easy to tie and easy to untie. They last forever. Roll em up and stick 'em in your jacket pocket when not using. Jacket on the handlebars also acts like a mini windshield. If you can't find Elk hide, deer hide will work as well. Watch yer top-knot.
I ride a sportster with no sadle bags.
when I 2-up with the GF I have a luggage rack on the back of the backrest. I have a mini granatour bag which holds all my GFs stuff like cell phone, purse, sunglass case, etc. I keep my wallet in my pocket and my cellphone in my jacket.
If i remove my jacket then I fold it and use a webbed bungee to secure it on top of the granatour bag. Works everytime
I hate saddle bags

i have a fork bag that goes just below my handle bars for cell phone, galses (night and day) and extra bunggy, hat, etc. ususally keep wallet in pocket.
as for jacket, i usually roll it up and put it on my motherwell luggage rack. or if im two up and roll it up and put it below my fork bag and the jacket rests on the headlight.
this is how i roll my jacket up:
lay jacket on table or ground with the back of the jacket toward the ground (this keeps the zippers on the inside of the roll). fold each side in where they meet in the middle at the zipper, then fold sleves inalso. now your jacket will be in a rectangular shape. then you place the bunggy at the bottom of the jacket on the inside of the roll, one end of bunggy should be just at the edge of the jacket and the other end should be longer so you can feed the bunggy thru forks or around things. roll it up nice and tight so the bunggy is on the very inside of the roll. and strap it to the bike. might have to try a couple different bunggys to get the correct fit.
You have to get awful big saddlebags to have room for a leather jacket, and one would have to be empty. I bungee my jacket to the sissy bar or luggage rack.
And your wallet? Where else would you keep it but your back pocket?
