Hi. Anyone know anything about the quality of Z1R helmets? I'm considering their Ace open face model. They are inexpensive, but not so inexpensive that say seem too cheap to buy due to poor quality. I'm looking for something that works, will last a while if I take care of it, you know. Are they junk? Decent? Their website is really nice.
If U read the above review then U should know that they are a bad fitting, who knows who make it, Chinese piece of Chit that they are trying to sell here in the states. Other than that, "their crap''.
But if that's all U can afford and still want cheap vs quality, then this might be the one for U..
I believe it was Motorcycle magazine did some labratory testing a couple of years ago on all sorts of helmets. The Z1R's came out near the top for safety, above Arai, Shoei, etc. Now they did not consider comfort, fit, etc., just safety, but they did absorb energy very well.
I bought a ZRP shortly after the report and have used it since. I have been satisfied with their product.
Be advised that prior to the ZRP, I wore NO helmet for over 30 years. I mention this because I had no helmet experience to compare, comfort, noise, etc.with.
Good luck with your choice....
FWIW- I am looking at modular helmets for their ease of use, the price has really come down since I bought my first lid.
