I have been riding in a Jean Jacket for 20 years. I bought my current one at walmart for $20. If it gets a little chilly, I add a hoody under the Jean Jacket. Why buy fancy jackets that cost an arm and a leg.

You can buy leather jackets for around $100. Just my arm is worth considerably more than that.

Evil...I was checking out the one you wrote about...I like it....seems to be some different views on the sizing....what are your dimensions and what size jacket did fits you?
Thanks
I typically won't wear a jacket (i live in TX so it gets HOT), i have one cool weather jacket, it's a HD one, with a fleece liner (removable with hoodie) and it's "denim" style jacket...looks like a mechanic jacket (checkout what the auto guys in Wal-Mart wear for cold weather). That ran me about $130 i think it was on sale. But for hot/warmer weather, make sure that there are zippers or whatever that will allow airflow or you mightl have a heat stroke :P
Mesh jackets breath so well it's like wearing a t-shirt. They're armored in case you go down but allow massive amount of air through them. Even stopped at a traffic light you can feel the breeze passing through the jacket.

It seems most everything on Leatherup.com suggest ordering a size up from what you normally wear. I always wear a large. On this jacket, I ordered the XL & it fits perfect. This jacket is definitely for warm weather riding only - once the temps drop down to the mid or low 60's, you'd want a long sleeved shirt, at least, under it.
I bought a second leather jacket from them - for cold weather, and ended up sending back the XL for a XXL, with the idea I wanted more room for layers.
My dimensions? Don't know... Short, Fat, Polock sized... I'm 5'8", about 195 lbs... "stocky"
I will chime in there as a "crotch rocket" rider/racer and also and HD owner. Yes, wear a jacket. I wear a Vanson Hurricane. It even looks ok with MC colors if you throw the vest over the jacket.
Yes, I ride with a jacket 95% of the time. It's doesn't make you look like a "crotch rocket" rider. It makes you look like real rider and not a Rich Urban Biker (RUB) ha ha ha. It's ll good...just having some fun.

A few more things...I was on a phone call when I typed the last message.
Jackets are often uncomfortable, but you will get used to wearing one. Lot's of guys do ride around in the traditional Harley vest with no protective gear whatsoever. I get ribbed quite a bit in the MC circle for wearing gear. But wearing gear will help prolong your riding career and also keep you in better shape if you lay it down---or God forbid some dumb **** cage driver hits you. Around where I live there is lots of heavy city traffic, and torn-up roads.
Riding around in a t-shirt and a skid-lid is a recipe for disaster. Yep I know most riders do this and I'm not the fashion police. It's ultimately their call as well as it is yours. Wear what ya like. People go get hurt and killed in motorcycle crashes...it happens all the time. So dress smart. Skin grafts are not fun. You could go years without a crash or even an incident...then one Monday afternoon out of the blue...BAMMMMM...in that moment your fate could be decided for you. Your gear will have an effect on your outcome.
