The club I ride with is very strick on how we ride. Staggered formation riding fairly tight, and never more than 5 to 6 in a group. Groups separated by at least a hundred yards or so to allow 4 wheelers to pass if they need to on 2 lane roads. Everyone knows the route ahead of time so there is never a worry of being left behind if you catch a red light. Riders, and we have several that are not comfortable with this, ride behind the groups at whatever distance they want, they are on their own.
Been doing this for the past 7 years, but have to say, when the occasion comes up when I ride with an unknown group and riders, I really don't feel comfortable.
