I posted this on the Off-topic forum but thought it would be good here too.
A little reminder that motorcyclist can be the ones to cause the danger on the road.
I was going to work when I saw the local V-Star Club come on to the freeway.
They were a mess getting on the road and got split-up bad.
They got behind my car and I had no problems with that except they were riding awful close.
I go up a pretty good grade in the morning and you can hit some very slow moving
vehicles.
I was in the 2nd lane of 4 and the traffic slowed in front of me. I slowed as evenly as I could
so the bikes wouldn't be surprised but the lead was right on my butt.
I moved over in my lane the best I could (he was on my drivers side) so he'd have
an out and by the time he could safely move over to the next lane
he was almost halfway up my rear quarter panel with a full fairing.
We were doing about 45 or 50 and slowing...the lanes weren't safe to spilt cause the next
lane was doing 60 to 70. And on my other side was an 18 wheeler.
This was a case of how to make a cage very nervous.... one wrong move from any
driver and he would have been V-Star road kill. When they finally did move over they
just stared at me as they passed....sigh.
Stared at you like you don't know what you're doing. "If that woman would ever ride a motorcycle, then she'd know." Glad to hear that no one got hurt. My Brother belongs to another forum and a rider was complaning that he "had to lay the bike down to avoid a slowing vehicle". Brother told him "you were following too closely and didn't have any options. It's your fault, not the car's." The rider gave distance descriptions and he was too close.
I have to admit, somethimes I look at people that way.
worse example yet....look at Laconia (maybe wrong name) bike week going on this week. Two posts syesterday told of a biker riding in a pack that could not complete a turn in his own lane. Biker swerved over into oncoming traffic.
Oncoming cager panicked when he/she saw a bike in front of them and lost control while avoiding one wild bike. Cager hit a group of bikes in their own lane killing a at least 3. Others went down and were injured.
Again, we all need to remember it isn't always the cagers fault.
