. I can recover a few hundred with the sale of the police sadlebags, and air ride seat if I want to. For now, I'll probably just keep that stuff in case I wind up selling the bike sometime soon, and I'd keep the civilian stuff for future use.

If your willing to pay NADA price, why not shop around at some bike shops. Think you'll certainly find something at or below the NADA price and then dont have to worry about not seeing something first.
OK, I lost another auction last night. The bike was a 2005 Harley Davidson Softail Deuce FXSTDI with 8,518 miles on it. Again I was the high bidder at $12,100 and the Reserve Price was not Met. Looking on NADA, the Average Retail price for this bike is $12,260. I am looking for a bike that is within 200 miles of Memphis so I can pick it up and save shipping. Definitely going to start scanning Craigslist and Cycle Trader.
I got my 99 Softail Custom on e-bay for $7,100. I was the second bidder and there was no reserve. It had 17,000 miles on it and is in super shape. I had to drive 500 miles to get it, but the seller was a really nice fellow. After the deal was made, he even threw in a new Dunlop rear tire. The bike has lots of added crome. I have ridden it 3,000 miles since I got it without a problem. The EVO runs so sweet it brings tears to your eyes. I had looked and bid on one other one that I lost because I did not meet reserve. If you have the time, there are deals out there. I sold my 84 Sportser Iron Head with 50,000 miles on it for $3,500 locally. Just parked it at the end of the lane, and it sold in 3 days.
I spent a couple of months looking for a bike on E-Bay. Like many people before me said, I don't think many bikes actually sell. Sellers want retail price and buyers want trade in price. If I want to pay retail I will go to a Harley shop and have a better chance of knowing the bike will not have any major issues. Most bikes I liked costed as much as used bikes at the Harley shops.

not wanting to further hijack the thread, but....... I've been riding since 1969. (well i did stop for meals and to sleep). The cop seat has a plush ride, that's for sure, however, it sits waaaay up and waaaaay forward. Even the mustang seat I have on it sits a little too forward for my complete satisfaction. I'll probably put a Corbin on it soon. The cop bags? ya easy to open, but fugly.
