How about offering online credit application approvals with realistic intrest rates.

Well, this post has taken a left turn somewhere. Starts off about layoffs and how bad the moco is doing , and turned into how bad dealers are. As I see it the moco has finally found out that when things get bad , buying a Harley don't make them better. When you have been laid off or think that it's comming, your not going to buy a $20k toy. And do you really need more chrome? or another tee shirt?. They think about selling off those "toys". But a quick look on ebay will tell you something, right now there's almost 3000 Harleys for sale. All types, all years and models. Whats sad is when you look at the completed sales alot of them don't get sold, or even have offers made on them. The ones that sell go cheap. So it seems the novelty of owning a Harley isn't that impressive seems everybody has one.And nobody is fond of paying top dollar for a bike and having to sell it for half what you paid three years later. Sure 90% of the country is still working and has the cash to buy, but it looks like they are choosing what they buy more carefully these days. I don't know how Honda is doing these days, but if you go to their dealership they have bikes ranging from 100cc to 1800 cc. Harley may need to expand their model line to stay in business if they are not selling large motor bikes to the younger riders who would buy a Harley, if their product line wasn't so limited. If their lineup of bikes were more varied, they could shutdown production of one type and more the labor over to the line that's moving more units. They wouldn't have to lay people off and still meet demand. And even being cut back to 3 or 4 days a week would still be better then unemployment.,,
