Default Military?

Did anyone happen to get a military discount or some type of incentive off the out the door price? Maybe waived dealer fees?

If you buy through PX/BX you get somewhat of a discount. Not sure if you HAVE to be deployed over seas or not to get it. I got about 2k off my '09 RKC, but had to pay local sales tax that could not be added into the financing....IMO worked out about the same as if I had just gone to the dealer on my own. You local sales tax rate could make it worth looking into for you though.

yea im actually deployed right now...the quote they gave me was crazy high though...like almost 10 large for the Iron, thats with the optional extended service plan which was $900 (Is that really needed?)...thats without the tax and whatnot...i was just curious, I know a buddy of mine big up a Honda VTX I think and the dealer knocked off like a grand, I just figured that Harley would have something for us, I know they are all about the troops and the American way, just didnt know if they had a standard or maybe its just something I have to work out with the dealer....

They don't offer anything "official" stateside. Although there are some dealers who will work with you to gain your buisness from the Exchange Car Sales. You do have to be deployed overseas to "enjoy" the perks of AAFES program. Im currrently about to ge a 2010 RoadKing, but will be trading in my 2002 Sportster 883. You cannot enjoy the military discounted price AND trade in. However, FortHood Harley Davidson told me to send them my quote slip from AAFES and they would match it AND let me trade my sporty in. Well, they did better, they went $200 below even what the reduced AAFES price was. So, i guess to finally answer your question, it would vary on the indiviidual dealer, but the only OFFICIAL break HD will give you is through the Exchange car sales. Hope this helps, and good luck.......By the way, thats not a ridiculous price on the Iron....IMO.

for the most part, i'm pretty sure nothing. let's say it's delivered to japan while someone is stationed there. it will get shipped back to the states upon the service member's return through the Travel Management Office(TMO) at no cost to the service member. There's some "in between the lines" stuff, like one or two vehicles per household, but it's a very long story. Then, let's say I order one through AAFES while on ship during a deployment, then it would be arranged to be delivered to a city of my choosing at no cost. I'm not certain if it is a dealership of my choosing or not though. I know my local H-D dealer told me today they would beat or match the AAFES price. Repeat buyer, so they should, IMO. i want to find out more info as well, 'cause i got my eyes on that matte black road glide or street glide.

Anchorage house of Harley matched my AAFES quote. I got the bike, 5 year extended waranty w/wheel and tire for almost 5K less than what they wanted. The rep from where I was supposed to deploy to sent me a price quote breakdown sheet for every option, I forarded that to my sales rep. They honored the price, and earned a loyal customer.

If buying while deployed AAFES will have it delivered to the dealership of your choosing at no cost. You just pay the local sales & motor vehicle taxes there.

I kind of like dealing face to face with the sales person at the dealership so I will probably not buy another vehicle through the AAFES program again. Don't get me wrong I was treated pretty good by the people here in country, just in retrospect it would have been nice to ride the bike before buying it and maybe work in some upgrades in to the purchase. The dealer that I had it delivered to I had no prior experience with and since they were making little if any $$ on the deal I felt rushed through the process. Since that first purchase I have bought 2 more HDs (long story short wife wanted a Sportie, then after 700 miles wanted to upgrade to a deluxe...happy wife happy home kind of thing) direct from a local dealer and felt much better about the process.

Again no slam intended on the AAFESS program...It is a good thing....I personally just like to haggle, I like the sport of it all.

As for the extended warranty...I went for it since I am only home 53 days a year and don't want to deal with wrenching when I could be riding. If I spent more time state side I probably would not have got it. I do recommend the tire plane though since I have the spoke rims on the RKC they (so they say) will replace tire and or rim if damaged at no cost, no matter what. I hope that I never have to find out for sure if they would or not.

Best of luck and get home safe to enjoy whatever you decide to get.

I am currently deployed, and just bought a '10 Street Glide. The Privileged Mil Quote was $17,806.
5yr Extended Warranty $999
Freight $375
Prep $379
Sec System $355
Cruise control $278
ABS $744

total $ 20,878

My local dealer said he would match that price (Northwest HD) but I was a little impatient, and didn't want to wait till I got home. This is the second bike I have bought through AAFES, and I think it is a great program. If I was trading in my Heritage, I may have considered waiting. Since I am adding to the stable (the missus will get the Heritage) it was just as easy to do it here.

Just my 2c
