I'd call the MOCO and maybe even the BBB. The guy was an azzhole.
I am ashamed...I was born in Riverhead...

The guy is a F**n Azzhole, never heard of anything like this.Write a letter to MoCO,call the regional manager,it shouldn't matter where you bought your bike from, its an HD,stick it to him and go get it serviced somewhere else.

That is utterly wrong in every possible way, a dealership (no matter where in the world they may be) has a duty to bikers everywhere. Not to mention turning down money is not business sense, it's fool's sense. A business can not survive without cash flow, this owner should be very ashamed of himself and should formally apologise.

Definitely let us know what MoCo says.
This guy sounds like a jerk holdover from the post AMF days. I grew up in Baltimore and moved to NYC in '81. A good friend of mine back home was a dedicated Harley rider for decades and always used Harley of Baltimore. When he died from crash complications I wanted to sort of honor him and buy my bike from the Baltimore dealer. Picked out a Heritage Softail and when the old salesman say my NY license he said he couldn't sell to me because I was out of state. ???! They want to develop a customer so they can get all your business for parts, service and clothes and with me being out of state I'd be doing much of that business in NY. I told him my reasons for wanting to buy from Baltimore and he knew my friend Bob well but said it was policy. I said it was a stupid f*&#ing policy and walked out the door.
That was about 10 years ago.

My guess in there's a bunch of trash-talking going on behind the scenes of the owners two dealerships. Happens everywhere. The owner of Eastern HD is foolish to behave this way, perhaps the other dealer has been kicking his ***, sales-wise?

Same here. I'm fortunate to have 5 dealser within 40 miles of home. So far I've had three of them work on my bike. Never had a refusal. Also had it worked on while out of state on a road trip. They treated me with respect and courtesy.

Let me pose this question. What if you had bought your bike from your hometown dealer then had to relocate to another area, and returning to the original dealer was not possible due to say...distance. Would you expect that the local dealer in your new state would not honor your MoCo's warrantee? I would definately expect the MoCo to step in and correct this guys attitude or I think I might take legal action against that dealer. But I agree I would not return and might send him an e-mail directing him to this thread. Then tell everyone you know.

BTW when I was looking for a new Street Glide I went to NewRoc 1st. and then another local dealer. They both quoted MSRP on the same bike but the 2nd. dealer was getting half the financing that NewRoc was charging. The 2nd. dealer (I won't name) told me Harley allows them to mark up the financing 3% over what they charge them. He said that they don't mark up the financing but NewRoc does. He even showed me the document from the MoCo to prove it. I'm just saying.
