It is cooler, traffic is usually lighter and the Harley headlights are so bad you over ride them around 25 mph so hazards that are not seen don't scare me...if I start to think about not being able to see further than 75-80 feet then I try to remember prayers I haven't used in many years to take my mind off it.
back in the early 80s when the wife to be was in college I rode the 25 miles home in the dark several nights a week but now with the over abundance of deer in our area I am a little bit gun shy riding after dark.
And yet another one for night ridin. I do about 90% of my riding at night, simply because I'm like a noob again after over 20 years of not riding. No traffic, much cooler at night than day time here, plus I ride near the ocean mostly so not many deer. A whole bunch of critters which wake me up now and then tho. And one good thing about riding at night, I usually do just over the speed limit so alot of times when I pass by a cop in the bushes waiting for unsuspecting speeders they often just flash their lights at me to let me know. I guess I'm goin too slow to waste time on, but just fast enuff to want to give warning to. That let's me know their favorite spots too.
I really enjoy night time (both evening and morning) rides. In my years I have hit three deer all with my cars. Have I had some close call on my ride? yes. Will I hit a deer eventually? probably. Will this stop me from riding at night? No fricken way!!
I love rippin' up my city at night. NYC comes alive in the dark Mon-Sun.
No deers but plenty of drunks. We use caution through the green lights and intersections even when we don't have the stop signs. NYC at 4am is lawless... The real hardcore bikers come out at night in NYC..
I think riding at night is the best time. I'd much rather tango with a small woodland critter than the crazy BMW drivers around here. Just knock it down a few mph's when riding through deer crossing areas.
I'm fine riding at night.
It's rain + night that I don't like.
I just got back from a ride up to York PA for the Open House.
Saturday night I went for a ride to Lancaster to see a movie and I got rained on the entire way and back.
It was a little scary because oncoming headlights would light up the water on my face mask and make it hard to see more than 10 feet in front of me.
I tried opening my face mask, but then my glasses got wet.
I just had to focus on the paint on the road and stay in my lane, was a little nervous though.
