RUB...This fascinates me.
No RUBs here, yeah I'm a big hairy 1%'er.... it just so happens that when I'm not out cracking skulls or breaking the law I'm posting my opinion and smiley faces on websites. I'm a "REAL" biker and if you don't think so I'll break this freakin keyboard over ya head!!!
Yeah big hairy 1%'ers and REAAALLLL bikers have computers and post on websites all day...
I'd venture to say..if your here..you're most likely around RUB status if not just successful.
RUB? Is that supposed to be derogatory?
No offense anyone....
ORIGINAL: commtrd
Heh that's priceless grumpy...me being a rub!?!
There will be no jap cruiser found in my garage. I will most assuredly own a Street Glide. My first time I ever rode on a Harley (that I can remember) was when my dad was killing himself working 40 a week at International Harvester in Lubbock and taking a full load in engineering school at the same time. He had two harleys and he would put me on the tank and take me for rides when I was still a baby...so I guess it's really in my blood eh?
Nothing wrong with HOG or any of that. I am more of a loner and would rather ride that way...just the way I am. Anyway I am going to rent a bagger earliest opportunity can probably guess what will happen. BTW I think I am absolutely the very last person I would have ever considered a RUB. Blows my mind actually...worked hard for everything I ever had, surf big waves, fish, do art, I don't know abot the RUB thing at all :-D I do know it's all about the ride for me...
Harley's are to be seen and heard. I think you want a VTX 1800. Great bike for stock speed. I'm 45, so I want looks and sound, and I drive to work daily, 65-70. 42 MPG. I ask for no more.
i'm a RUB....its good ...yall like my smiley faces they's nice, aint they [8D] buy a Glide and be happy dude ... i ride mine everday ... even got me a cupholder for my mocha locha latte [:'(] ... now quit aggitatin my dots
As far as your 6th gear, its the same 1:1 ratio as the five speed transmissions have been using for years. The sixth gear is just the addition of another gear in the middle creating a closer ratio gearbox....Its not a true overdrive.
Actually, it's better than a true overdrive. They changed the primary gearing on the 6-speed bikes, so the final ratio is not the same as the 5-speeds. The engine rpms are lower at highway speeds and that's what counts.
To the originator of this thread - If you are serious about a HD, then simply go rent one and see for yourself if it's the bike for you. Don't you think there is a reason every other manufacturer copies HD?

My .02 on the subject. I have an 05 E-glide standard. Stage I (SE muffs,SE air cleaner, remap). TheStage I will cost you about a grand. The SE Pro Performance muffs sound great, but not by any means obnoxiously loud. They have a nice low rumble but not too loud. As far as power goes, my OL and I took a 1600 miles in 6 days trip last summer. She has a bad back and on the comfort side had no problem. I rode the Skyline Drive in Virginia and some very mountainy roads from Virginia, through West Virginia, to home in Ohio. There was no time that I felt I had a need for more power. I rode up some fairly steep inclines with no problem. I have had no problems passing other vehicles on the highway. If I get on the throttle, she moves out pretty quickly. I personally don't see a need to spend thousands of dollars right off the bat for 95", etc, etc, etc...This is just my .02. You may want to consider renting one for a day and see how it feels to you. Good luck.

sorry to have offended you but from what your post said you sound like you have made up your mind
and metric is it as they are faster quiter (sp) and more reliable than hd and you can just ride it
