Yeah, ive heard it being a can of hairspray that got suck open and drained into the bowl, raid, lighter fluid, gasoline, kerosene etc. The guys on Myth busters after trying to blow a dummy off the toilet seat using ALL these scenarios with NO sucsess finally stuck a bunch of gunpowder in the thing and blew it up just so they could have SOME fun. The myth was busted, the story is not true. My grampa told me he heard it when HE was a kid and it was an outhouse that blew up!!

OK I gotta ask...

Why on earth would anyone store, work on, etc, a motorcycle inside their home...?

Seems to me, if you have the money to buy a 20K scooter, you would have a place like a garage or some type of shed to store it in or work on it in.

I must be so far off base it is rediculous...

Someone help me understand this please...
A friend has a Softail Standard and lives in an apartment complex that only has outside parking. No covered parking of any kind. He takes his front door off the hinges and throws down a ramp he built and rides it into his living room.

It sits there 6 months out of the year during the long Alaska winter. And anytime in the summer when he is not going to be riding it steady.

On the plus side it is a very clean and shiney bike that does not drip anything.

OK, I'll admit that for many years I parked and maintained my bike inside my house. Built a ramp up to the back deck and from there rolled it into the dining room. Spread a section of carpet over the wood flooring so I wouldn't ruin it and preformed all kinds of basic maintenance, fluid changes, primary and clutch adjustments, and even tire replacements. Long story short, went through a divorce. I was single so I could do that if I wanted. Didn't have the money for a garage then and I wasn't going in debt for it, (I'm a tight wad) so the bike was in the house. Today, years later things have improved, I'm debt free and my scoot sleeps in a garage.
