I have been trying to get my state senator and my assemblyman to address the issue of cellphone use and all they want to do is address texting by new drvers and those 18 and under. Maybe this will help when I send it to them. Thanks
I'm a more alert and safer driver after 10 beers, than the people i encounter on the road talking on the phone and txt while driving.
I see AT LEAST one person with their head up their *** every time i go into town... either talking/txt'ing weaving around in the lane, going 20mph in a 40mph zone, sitting at a green like for 3-4 seconds until someone honks at them cuz they're too busy gazing into their lap updating their facebook status, and any number of other dangerous activities that stem from being distracted and just plain not paying attention to the road.
The worst is someone driving, smoking, AND fiddling with their phone...
He got off easy for killing 2 people. I do not use my phone at all when riding or driving. I bet 90% of the people on this forum use their phones while driving. Talking on the cell is as bad as texting in my book.
No bull ****, #1 what's the first thing you do while driving and your phone rings? You look down to pick up your phone. #2 You look at the caller ID to see who it is. #3 You look again to open, answer your phone. That's 3 distractions, where you took your eye's off the road.
If you use your phone while driving, and you know you do, your an *******.

The people I ride with don't answer the phonem whether on the bike or in their cage. They wait til they pull over or get to where they are going. I think most riders do the same. Yeah, I rely alot on my phone but not til I stop
For everyone's info: There is legislation being written in congress to address cell phone use by mv operators, I don't know the bill # or how farreaching it is but it can't hurt if we send our state and federal legislators the link and ask them to pass legislation banning cell phone use by drivers.
Just saw the Feds are banning anyone in their employment from texting while driving. I didn't catch the whole story, but it sounds like a step in the right direction.
Saw a 3 car pile up yesterday on the way home from work. One of the kids in the accident is in my son's class as school, so he asked him what happened. Sure enough, a kid that had just left the high school was not looking and was busy texting and back-ended one car hard enough to push into the car in front of it. What if that had been a bike? People just don't think anymore!!
