After reading your post, I decided to upgrade from beer, to something with some Vodka in it!

Oh, and by the way... you're drunk *** seems to completely ignore the fact that metric riders UPGRADE from a 500 cc bike to a 750, then a 1000, then a 1200...

Performance Upgrades? What is the Best, FIRST, Most Beneficial upgrade I can do to my new bike once I get it? I am a COMPLETE ID10T when it comes to motorcycles. since I just placed an order for my first bike, and got financing for it yesteray.
I have a 2010 Fatbob FXDF on order thru the Navy Auto Source program, and likely wont' have it inhand until early April. I'll worry about Model upgrades, and styling upgrades, etc once I get comfortable just RIDING this thing first one. I just WISH I had access to what Poster #1 had - right now. Might help the stress level out here on the ship be a little easier to deal with!

For everyone here responding about adding upgrades to your bike - go back an re-read the original post. It's not about adding upgrades to your bike. It's about getting rid of your bike and UPGRADING to a different type of bike (i.e. Sporty to Dyna, Dyna to Bagger...)

The question was - Why do Harley riders view purchasing a different type of bike as an "upgrade"? ...the implication being the previous bike was something less, or the new bike is "better".

The OP also implied metric riders don't view replacing one bike with another as an "upgrade", they simply view it as getting rid of one bike and replacing it with another bike ... which is wrong, as any discussion with a metric rider who has moved from a 500 cc bike to a 750, 1,000, etc. will tell you.

BUT... you should try that orange drink recipe thing. Sounds really good!
