New fender.

$22K buys a new bike.

New.

A good paint guy can make it look real good.

But it's not new.

If that would have happened at our local dealer I would have taken the bike home and got to enjoy it while they got a new fender on order and replaced it under warranty when it came in. With a good dealer this question should not have to be asked.

The ideal situation for you is to have the fender replaced.

Short of that, it depends on how deep the scratch is. A minor scratch can be buffed out with the proper abrasives and a good machine. As stated above, a good body man can make it look like new. Remember one thing, sanding or buffing removes paint, can't get around it.

If they won't replace the fender at the very least make sure the fender is removed from the bike, and that they re-shoot the entire fender.

I don't know what a rear bumper is but if it is a fender then I would ask for a new rear fender to go with the new front fender they already had to replace. They must have an employee that need some additional training.

No paint pro here but isnt there a coat of clear coat on that paint. Sure that the wet sanding would pretty much do that it, at least in that area.
