Default Fuel sender

Ive got a 99 ultra classic and lately it seems like the fuel sender is going bad or something. I went riding with my dad a couple weekends ago and when we left I had 3/4 of a tank. We only put about 50 miles on and i was bouncing on 1/4. I have completely filled up before and at about 100 miles its down bouncing around 1/4 to E. Does anybody else have this problem??

My Ultra has had this problem for years. I just go by the trip meter. Haven't even tried to fix the problem, yet.

I've had three F.I. bikes: 03 Aniv. FatBoy, 06 RoadKing Custom and now a 09 RoadKing Classic and all three have had fuel gauge problems. The 03 by the time I traded it in had a fuel sending unit that just plain quit working. The 06 RKC fuel sending unit would work accurately untill it reached a drop under half tank, at which point it would read empty. My current 09 RKClassic reads about an 1/8 of a tank under at full and when it reaches a half tank the fuel sending unit is reading about 1/4 tank. So currently I just open the cap and peek in once in a while once it gets under a half tank, and yes you could always use the trip odometer.
