I went nearly 14 years without a bike. My daughter went off to college and I had the urge and the money. During the hiatus, I continued my AMA membership and bought the magazines. When I got back into it during the summer of '07, I've not looked back. I enjoy it more now than ever. I also have those periods where I don't want to put on the gear an ride, but that has more to do with hangover than anything else.
I also ride to work everyday I am able to weather permitting (hour each way). I have found the same, it starts to be a rut same road, same scenery. I have gotten over those thought by getting on the bike and not planning a ride just spending time on a trip to nowhere. Helped me might give it a try.
One thing though that do I know...I hate to fly. If its under 12 hours...I drive. But then, I hate to drive long distances too--its boring. But riding somewhere? (or nowhere), heck, you can prop me up in the saddle for 12 or 14 hours and it just dont matter. The time just flies by and I dont even notice. I may be tired as hell but I'll be in a LOT better mood than if I drove a cage or was cooped up in a cattle car with wings. MOOOOO!!!!

What's not to understand ? If you love music and you also love riding it seems to me to be a no brainer not to do both at the same time if you can. Different strokes for different folks I guess.
+1 I don't understand the whole radio cd player on a Hog. The music I enjoy listening to is the exhaust. But I also hate listening to the radio in the truck too.
I'm with ya. I bought a Road Glide in spite of it having a radio... figured it MIGHT come in useful someday, but until that day presents itself, the audio system stays off. I like the sounds of the bike and the road and don't need an entertainment system to thrill to the experience of riding... it detracts from it in my view. But I know that's just a personal preference thing, that's all.
