Smile Used Price differences in different areas

I am looking ahead to the spring ---maybe--for a new (er) bike have an 07 FDX and have found that prices vary so much between my area( mine being much higher) and the deep south of the U.S.----so much so to the point of up to $4500.00 for 08's and 09's.

The economy here is such that I can sell my 07 at home and only have to put about $3000.00 or less for an major upgrade into the FL series, at this time not decided on model.

For an idea of pricing up here go to Craigslist for Vancouver and check Harley.

Is anyone finding prices attractive outside their normal shopping area?

In most any area that I look at, used Harleys are going for less $$ than they are around here. People are just not dumping them here.

I would think that states worst hit by the recession/housing price bust would have the cheapest prices, but haven't sat and researched. Colorado isn't one of those states, but prices are deflated here also.

Ohio prices seem to be quite a bit higher than other states.

Used prices are definitely down here in SoCal. Just bought myself an 06 Street Glide on Monday. Lots of upgrades, perfectly clean, 20K miles, looks brand new for 13.9K. This time last year, I couldn't score that deal. I am freaking out right now because I pick it up at 9AM tomorrow morning. This is way worse than Christmas Eve when I was 8 years old!!! Did that clock just move backwards??!!!!! AHHHHHHHHHHH!

We got whacked by the housing bubble burst ... we're the epicenter in Sarasota County FL ... but, I haven't seen any great used price deals .. matter of fact ... you might as well try and make a deal on a new one ... I've noticed guys and dealers want to count the "value" of owner mods and bolt ons (good and bad ones) ... and they jack up the asking prices. If you get a bone stock new bike, you aren't faced with the mod increases .. but you do have to fight off the ridiculous dealer fees and drive the MSRP down to some semblance of reality. Worst places for prices seem to be where there are lots of retirees ... they ain't losing their jobs any time soon and from what I can see in Sarasota ... they have money to burn.

Seem to be pricey here.
I have seen '06 Road Glides going for 15-18 on Craigslist.

seems like a lot of people still are under the dillusion a Harley, is "an investment" rather than a "motorcycle" so they price a 2 year old bike, at near current MSRP.
Plus you have so many suckers.... errr folks, that bought the bike, the wardrobe, and all the chrome, and then financed the deal. so they owe as much now, as a new bike.
Given MOCO's cutting production of new bikes, I wouldn't be too surprised to see the used bike market increase in price....I'm just glad I love my 2005 FLTR, and see no reason to buy another (heck, it's only got 47,000 miles)

What they are asking and what they are getting are 2 different things, many owe more than they can get for it.
