Not to mention if the battery dies, pushing an 800lb bike down the road and dumping it into gear to start sucks big time! But then, you might need to have juice in the battery for the injectors and ECU to work.

I wonder, if you had kick start on a 100+ C.I. engine, how far the kick back would throw you over the handle bars...

I kicked a 93" shovel over for 10 yrs and miss it at times.Always loved seeing the kick crank hanging off the trans. It was there for a reason.Today it is a different story with electronics and big inch motors.

A kick start does add something to it. I still stop and look twice sometimes. Something is missing.

I think the kick start is awesome... never tried kicking a 100 C.I. engine personally but maybe someday.

Kick start, and having the spark advance on the left hand grip. The spark advance cable was broke on my old "45", so I just reached down and gave the old mag a twist to retard when kicking. Then reach down and advance when I got it running. It generally started pretty easy, except when it was below 50 deg. The trans grease I was running for oil probably didn't help much. LOL. Those old 45's were tough motors.
