Ok so from what I'm reading my 32 mpg is low. I'm not a hard rider. I take off and try to let the bike build speed without opening the throttle way up. In other words I'm trying to be easy on it to get the best I can get. I purchased the bike used. I know that it has a K&N filter, some kind of mufflers ??? and a power commander. When I ride it's a daily ride to work it's 1 stop sign at the end of my street and then 5 miles of highway
55-65 mph and then back home same speed. I guess I need to find a shop that can help me figure out what I can do to help my mileage. Thanks for everyones impute.
Danny
If you're only riding 5 miles, the bike's not warming up, and it's running in "warmup mode" which will be richer than it would be after a few more miles.
I'm averaging 25-30 MPG. 2004 FLSTF with a carb and Stage 1 Kit.SE II Slip-ons. I plan to have a Mikuni or S&S Carb next season. I have given up on the CV carb on it now. The dealer has had three tries to get it tuned with no luck.
05 Electra Glide standard with V&H cruiser oval slip on pipes K&N air cleaner running a #48 jet and getting 30's or so. I know it is a bit low but pulls nice. Besides who gives a ****.....
Carb'd, Andrews 26G cams, K&N filter and D&D Fatcat. About 34mpg riding around the mountains and down to the beach, with some highway riding. Pulls like a horse and the horse is thirsty. 100#/~80hp.

Go with the Mikuni. A lot more tuneable. You can tune a Mikuni. But, you can't tuna fish or an S&S.
Not the correct bike for this thread, but I keep all mileage figures in an excel spread sheet and I get 40-42 MPG. for a 2009 Road King. I have never gotten less than 40.
