Maybe that person's a distant relative to this guy i saw this morning, didn't get a chance to snap a picture, but he was riding a bicycle with a motorcycle half-helmet on.

Very common for adventure bicyclist's. Not called saddle bags they're panniers. Both front and rear mount. Until this season I did 2 to 6k a year on a bicycle to be in shape for long motorcycle touring. 1K on a motorcycle seat doesn't match 100+ miles on a bicycle.

I gave up this year at age 68 because my knees are going.

You will see many on the AlCan, Dalton and around the world. They're the real bikers, the rest of us a posers.

My daughter and I rode about 800 miles one summer a few years back and I was totin' a 40 lb. kid on my bike.
My left leg is pretty well trash so my right did most of the work. We both had the panier things.
And no helmets! (Well, the kid had one). Seen people riding up Lookout Mountain! Dayum! That's hardcore!
