As director of fleet management for a large municipality I have bought Plexus for a long time. I called my distributor yesterday and bought my last case. He said the manufacturer is no longer to offer the product and he only had one case left.
Does anyone know of a product that is as good or better.
Thanks,
Roger
Now, I don't know about that. Maybe your distributor is pulling one over on you. The maker of Plexus even has an advertisement that Plexus is the "only plastic cleaner used by the Air Force and NASA". Maybe they make a different product that is better and under a new name?
Maybe they lost their government contract and took a major hit that they didn't think they would. Otherwise, I can't see them discontinuing a product that is supposed to be that good.
When I used to own an airplane, I was very careful as to what I used on the windscreen:
Honda Cleaner/Polish (12 oz. spray cans); sold at most Honda motorcycle shops
I know it was good because the nanny state of New Jersey (where I used to keep my aircraft) didn't allow any NJ Honda dealers to carry it. It's readily available in NY and on-line. I used to apply & remove it in up & down swipes as the wind would flow over the windscreen. Worked great and is really popular for discriminating pilots & owners.
In fact, I just got off the phone with BTI Chemical Co (Agouri, CA, 800-405-6495) who manufacturer and distribute Plexus.
A company spokesman told me there are no current plans, and have never been any plans to discontinue the product.
He did say that one distributor that deals with fleet services (Federal Signal) is no longer handling the product, but that has nothing to do with product availability.
Just bought some HD spray cleaner&polish yesterday, I've used Plexus for yrs, also Honda spray wax.
thought I'd try the HD, says its a waterless detailer, safe for vinyl, metal, painted and plastic, including HD Lexan windshields. not for brakes and tires...$6.99 for a 12oz can..
Course it says to use a HD cloth to apply and clean with......Chit; there goes My warranty.....
