the left pipe on pre-2009s don't get much exhaust flow. the front cylinder pulls exhaust from the rear cylinder as they both exit the right side. the rear cylinder pulls from the front pipe also. scavenge effect by each pipe. very little of the rear exhaust goes out the left. check the temperature of each and you will find the left not near as hot. that's why i cut about four inches out of the rear crossover and plugged on my 01 to get duals. $1.50 for two freeze plugs.
