Engine Guard Chaps

Engine Guard Chaps
I do some riding in cooler weather. A friend from work offered to let me try out his engine guard chaps, I rode about 50 miles with them on my bike Sunday morning.. Not used to the look of them on my ride but I did like reduced amount of air coming around my legs. oh, I have a FLSTC. My question is do the chaps affect the cooling of the engine in temps higher than 40 or 50 degrees. My friend let me try them to see if I liked them before I purchased a pair.

I have some and like them. You get a lil more updraft to the face, but not bad.
They do hurt mileage some, but who cares? LOL
While they still allow some air to hit the motor, I don't recommend riding them very far at 55F or above.
Throw on a pair of long johns or chaps for those days.
40 - 50? Should be no problem.

+1 HD sight states 50 degrees. Instructions state 55 degrees. I mostly feel the difference on the lower legs.

I just bought a pair on Ebay a month ago. They are not the HD brand, and are actually attached via velcro so there real easy to put on and take off, and came with a little bag to store them in that I keep in my saddlebag. The instructions said do not use above 50-degrees. Above 50 I don't need them anyway.
I have them on for my morning ride then take them off before I head home.

I looked at leather lowers, but instead I purchased chaps. Some day I'll get some vented lowers, but thats all part of the "Ultimate Convertible" Project.

I made some for my old Sporty and they work well. Been using them for years with NO problems at all.
