So there I was getting gas. I always hold the nozzle up some so it’s not buried deep into the tank, that way I can get it filled to the top. Guess what happens when your not paying attention-The tip of the nozzle gets higher than you think, up above the unleaded filler hole in the tank. When that happens and you hit the lip gas goes straight up into your face and all over the bike in the matter of a split second. Real dumb azz move, hopefully this got it out of the way for all of us.
Yuck! That had to hurt!
I always leave the filler all the way down until it clicks off, then gradually raise it, let it click, etc. until I have the tank full. Takes longer, but works for me! Hope you are better now!
I was fine, the good news was nobody was around to see (and hear) and i had my glasses on so none got in my eyes. The fight came when i got home and started cleaning off the bike and my wife raising heck because i wouldn't take a shower to get the gas off till it was cleaned up.
cant imagine what there was to fight about unless maybe she wanted to clean the bike for you so you could then go get cleaned up and still know the bike was being taken care of as well, but you felt since you made the mess you should clean it up. Surely she didn't expect you to leave your bike their all dirty did she?
She was raising heck because she though i could burn my skin leaving the gas on there-
The bikini bike wash was great, those hooters girls are fun to watch.
There are some pics on the dealer site http://www.midamericahd.com/photo_gallery.asp if you want to check out the quality of there work.
That sux! I am super ****-retentive when putting gas in my scoot, using towels to hold over the nozzle tip going into & coming out of the tank and fill slowly to keep the fuel spray from splashing out of my tank fill. I will even find another gas station if their towel holders are empty.

I do that too, but carry my own just in case. Never had a spill on my bikes.
