The best leather jacket I've ever owned is a Harley FXRG Jacket, but they are 650.00

If you don't have this much money to spend go to a cycle gear and try on one of these jackets or look at them online.

They are a pretty dang good jacket.
I got the Street and Steel lined chaps for 169.00 and they are awsum

Fox Creek is one of the best motorcycle jacket shops around. I think it's safe to assume they know what they're doing.

My "guess" is they have averaged the sleeve length and go with what length most folks have.

Just like folks with a long or short torso; the fit won't be just right compared with the "average".

Short of going custom made we all have to accept some shortcomings in fit.

For whatever it's worth; I had to take my jacket from leatherup, which I am more than happy with, and have a shoe/leather guy put a rivet in the cuff to make it fit just right for me. (Length was ok on the sleeves. Maybe a tad long for this stocky guy )

Like I mentioned in my earlier post. Some folks work well with off the rack clothing and can get lucky with a little searching and fitting. They are the ones who can easily shop when it comes to motorclothes. The rest who do not fit off the rack can search and fit till eternity and may never find proper fitting clothing. So it may not be fair to judge an entire line of clothing like FoxCreek by the few who have had difficulty with fittings. Yes, tailor made leathers are expensive, but for those who are difficult to fit, there may not be other choices.

I agree with Paniolo. My comments were about how a particular jacket fit on me, and a few other reviews I'd read. Don't take it as an indictment of FCL. The jacket I have is the best value I've seen in leather goods. I have a few "dress" leather jackets that were $400+ and exhibit nowhere near the quality and attention to detail that is apparent in handling my Commander jacket from Fox Creek.

I have an older California Leathers that fits very well. It has lengthened sleeves that zip tight, has laced sides, and great kidney support. The only drawback is that it doesn't have vents or a removable liner. If I need some air I can unzip the sleeves and lower the main zipper for air.

One nice thing is that the outside of the sleeves are longer towards the grips so they seal out air very well. They are almost pointed in appearance. If I am not wearing leather I have a mesh with armor that is very comfortable.

Uhm, on the jacket thing....I saw a few comments about patches which I do not understand. I was looking at leather jackets and came across the ICON MOTO Vintage Leather Flattrack jacket (http://www.motorcycle-superstore.com...na-Jacket.aspx)
I ordered it (delivered to store for try-on) because I like it, no other reason. My question/concern is if I am going to be like....stepping on someone's toes or looked at as a TOOL (more than I guess anyone looks at anyone else that way normally) for having patches on the jacket. I am way past the point of caring what people think, but having been in the military for the past 21 years, I am sensitive to those who choose to falsely represent themselves as being part of a particular group, or unit. Should I have any concerns? BTW, I will take the advice and try it on sitting on the bike before I walk away with it - great idea, thanks.
