I decided against the one with the belt just because I do have a large collection of buckles that I typically wear. Rarely do I not have a belt on. But if I come in to some extra cash and I really like the first one I might have to get another one too

You can not get anything for free.

i tend to agree, the fact that it's about $200 under retail, no returns accepted, and other items being sold that are readily counterfeited i thought the same thing that it's a fugazzi...

i found a store local selling them for $375 and they're listed on schott's site as a dealer. plus i can try one on and see if i like the fit.

I got tired of jackets that didn't fit so I spent a day hitting all of the local shops and trying on every jacket they had. Ended up with a local shops $150, off-brand jacket that I'm sure was made in Chintiawajapastan but it's heavy, looks well sewn and fits perfect. Especially zipping tight at the wrists which was the hardest thing to find. I was leery of ordering one no matter how good quality Fox Creek, etc. are because I tried on a lot of expensive, high quality jackets that just didn't fit.

I think this is good advice, generally speaking. I recently bought a Commander jacket from Fox Creek. I'm 5'11" about 205, and normally wear a L in shirts and a 42/44 suit jacket. I followed the directions, and ended up ordering a 46.

I'm very happy with the quality, and with the jacket overall, but the sleeves are definitely too short. This seems to be a common complaint with Fox Creek. I've debated back and forth about sending it back, going the "custom" route with them for another $80, etc and I think I've decided to live with it. I had the jacket out in the sun over the weekend, and spent some time "stretching" the arms to see if I could make up a bit of the difference by breaking things in and getting a little natural stretch.

Now, in all fairness, I could send it back for a refund and shop locally - but I really like the jacket other than the fit issue, and HD doesn't sell anything without their skulls or logo emblazoned all over it.

I would certainly recommend someone like Fox Creek, as long as they have a flexible return policy. The worst you're out is shipping, and you stand to land a fantastic product at a fair price.

My $0.02,
Bob

"Other than the fit issue"? ... that seems to be a big part of what makes a jacket (or any other article of clothing) work or not work for me, especially at Fox Creek prices. You could get something that fits as poorly, or even better, for around $100.

Fair enough. But the fit issue in this case, are sleeves 1/2" - 1" too short. In the winter, glove gauntlets cover it. In the summer, it's a non-issue.

Mostly it's an annoying feeling that the cuffs "ride up" a tad more than I'd like. My hope is that after a break-in period, things will settle in.

And maybe I'm just trying to rationalize keeping an otherwise great jacket that just "doesn't work" for me. Time will tell.

I ordered a Grayson jacket and gloves from Fox Creek on Friday. Ships today so I should have it by Wednesday or Thursday. The response from bobernet on the short sleeves has me a little worried, so I'll follow up after I receive it and let you all know how it fits.

Agree about the folks on the phone. Seems to be a small, well run company.

any opinions?
Probably a counterfeit. Notice the Schott tag isn't centered. I used to be in apparel manufacturing and that is unlikely from a 1st quality garment. If it's not a counterfeit...it's probably a 2nd.

Just went back and looked at the ad...only has 1 size 42 avail. Maybe discounted since it's the only one.

i can't order jackets online anymore i swear i've sent back like four because the fit just wasn't right. the icon jacket was a perfect fit armored jacket, but i also wanted a regular plain motorcycle jacket too so i bought a schott perfecto. i've actually coveted one of these since my punk days...

EDITED TO ADD:

actually the schott will be going back tomorrow, the second time i tried it on the rivulet in the belt popped right off. overall for the price tag the jacket does not deliver at all, not only is mine falling apart and i haven't even worn the thing but the interior lining is cheap, very itchy and uncomfortable, it can be removed either. i wouldn't recommend this jacket at all, if it weren't for nostalgic reasons they wouldn't sell one of these things. it does look great though i'll admit it...
