You might try Bates leathers here in sunny Southern California. I remember my dad taking me as a yougster to the motorcycle races and seeing all of the top riders wearing Bates leathers and thinking that someday I would be able to own one of those jackets and their gloves and boots. Good stuff Maynard!
Yeah. You probably figured that out by reading where I said "My idea is..."
You were pretty slick to catch that.
Wouldn't you agree that it sounds like you're telling him not to worry about where the jacket is made when that is exactly the thing with which he is concerned?
That is your idea. His idea is to get a jacket that is made in the USA.
Greg, what type of jacket did your wife like at the dealership?
Yea, some people couldnt care less. Its a free country, right now, and their welcome to their opinion.. In my business, I see all kinds of this stuff happening because of the rediculous regulations and tax programs the idiots in DC have put in place.. Its a shame...With that all said, I'd actually feel better about stuff made just about anywhere else than China, though I'd prefer to have one of my neighbors pocket my money for a good product. I've had a chinese made wheel and pushrod break on me just this past year. Then seeing DC morgage my unborn grandkids life to China for no reason, I've got a real hard time supporting any company that keeps it going.. I've always liked HD stuff in general, my jacket was bought at the dealer 15yrs ago and its a great quality.. But for them to mark up cheap chinese junk 6-800% in the effort to take advantage of their loyal customers ticks me off..
So, thats my story...
She likes the 3 in 1 jacket they've got out now with the removable hoodie.. Pretty decent looking jacket, of course, no one else seems to make one like it. But, if I could find one with a similar cut and style, the hoodie isnt that important..
That uswings site has some cool stuff. Most of their jackets are Schotts. Plus, the've got a unch of other stuff.. Thanks,
+1 on the Schott i love my schott perfecto jacket it's really grown on me after my initial dissapointment with my first one, and the leather is supreme quality. but like is mentioned here even schott who uses union labor to make their jackets gets their leather from suppliers (who aren't mentioned) i would wager their leather comes from tanneries overseas.

as for the HD jackets for $475.00 the leather is so stiff and of low quality compared to your schott, vanson, and fox creek it isn't even a comparison and these companies offer jackets in the same price range (maybe not vanson). plus i'm not a fan of the guady HD patches and emblems everywhere. if they sold their chinese jackets for $150 - $200 it would be a good deal, but for nearly $500 it is a rip-off IMO.
