last year I wanted the wide glide till this model came out. You see I like the relative look of the wide glide but because my back is all kinds of screwed up I am really looking forward to that new seat. Besides it comes with some kind of sissy bar for a passanger and that is money saved for me as far as I am concerned as that would have been an almost immediate purchase for me. as the bike sits the only things that I would need to buy would be crash bars and bags and I am done. I no that their are alot of people who dont like that bike but I think its great.
IMHO, the H-D Softail Custom was the nicest looking bike Harley ever made. I was dissapointed when they discontinued it in 2000 and introduced the Deuce. At one time I considered buying a Heritage or Fatboy and potting the wide front end and rear bobbed fender on it. Ended up with a Heritage and leaving well enough alone.
Just came back from the dealer who let me test drive an '07 Softail Custom. Have to say, it is one sweet looking bike. The dealer wasn't asking more than MSRP either.
I always thought the 99' softail custom was one of the best looking bikes harley ever made. I couldn't believe they discontinued it and replaced it with the "boring" softail standard, of course it was a blank canvas to build on. But man, I'm so glad to see that sweet custom back again!
