My advice: use gloves as stated. Use a spray bottle to wet (moisten really) the wrap as you go. Put one end in a vice and wrap by turning the pipe. Wrap tight. Start with the pipe end and finish at the head end. Throw away the silly stainless wire ties and you get with the wrap and use stainless hose clamps (they look better too). Let the pipes hang dry for at least 24 hours. Make sure they are DRY. Paint using DEI Silicone high heat paint. Install. Fire up the bike. No, the bike is NOT on fire! YES, IT WILL SMOKE! and stink! And it'll do it the next few times you fire up the bike. It looks awesome... on the right bike. Several manufactures make good wrap. I use Accel.

Like said in other posts, I use it as a poor mans heat sheild.Despite the many claims you will notice no difference in performance.I've been wrapping my pipes for years and I found spraying the wrap with a water bottle,as opposed to soaking it works better. It's just not a messy.Use about a 1/4" overlap and pull tight.Thats all there is to it.I like common hose clamps to secure it but I know some guys that use bailing wire or stainless zip ties.Just remember once you wrap them you can't go back. The pipes will get shitty pretty quick.I also prefer the 2"x 1/16".1/8" is a little too thick and I believe it traps too much heat in.

Also, if you'r gonna go black don't use the cheap eBay stuff.............unless you like stripes
The wrap is decent but the dye sucks.............black high-temp(1200*) will help

thanks for all the replies this gives me a great jumping off point. i'm going to drop the bike and put on a springer solo seat and see how i like it, if i do like it i'll go forward and wrap the pipes, paint the tank, and chop the fender. if i don't like how the bike sits or rides i'll just return it to stock and forget it.
