Default Pipe Bluing

What is a good way to get rid of the bluing from the pipes overheating?

Learn to love it or get heat shields and cover them.

Absolutely. Blue pipes are a thing of beauty, and a sign of a bike that actually gets ridden. Real riders respect blue pipes, as it means that you are more interested in riding than in polishing.

Bluing is a change in the chemical composition of the metal, and as such, cannot really be removed. It can be polished to be less noticeable, and it can be covered, but not removed.

If you still want to get rid of it, get some VHT black paint, sand the crap out of your pipes, and spray them.

I respect a shiny bike.
Try this:
http://www.blue-job.com/
It's actually a very, very fine rubbing compound that takes a layer off. It appears to make the blue go away, but at the cost of slowly rubbing your chrome away.

Bluing is on the surface and can be removed.

Just be careful about touching it with bare hands the oils on your hands can leave finger prints in the bluing.

Bluing is caused by your engine running to lean. Easy to fix if it's carbed, expensive if it's fuel injected. To remove bluing from your exhaust, use Blue Job. Its a powder chrome cleaner that won't scratch.
