I have searched and searched and it seems Fox Creek are about the best out there - Thing is which model leather jacket would you all suggest ?
I was thnnking the Commander or the vented racing - any suggestions?
I have the vented racing jacket and love it. It is versitale which make it especially nice in GA where the morning can be quite cool and the afternoon quite warm.
I have a textile racing jacket from FC. The liner is as good as my field jacket liner I got in the Army and does well to protect against the winter when its a bit nipplely. FC jackets seem to size a bit small so I'd try to get sized bigger
I have the Commander and as jackets go, it's a beauty but it's a very heavy coat. I wear a 56 or 58 Tall (can't remember) and I swear the thing weighs 30 pounds! This past spring I picked up a Fox Creek vest along with a much lighter waterproof/windproof textile jacket, that has reinforced shoulders and elbows + provisions for body armor. My thinking on this was I could wear this during the summer months when it's just too damn hot to wear my Commander. As it turns out I wore the vest/jacket combo all season right up until mid November and it has proven to be very practical. If I had the choice again I would have gone with this in the first place. Nothing against FCL and their products because I think my jacket is as nice as you'll find but...Unless you're only concerned about the look, there are some good alternatives to leather that offer similar protection while allowing a lot more comfort and mobility. Just my $.02 and some food for thought before you slam $400 on a jacket.
Santa has me a new classic 2 in the closet (I snooped). It sure is nicer than my other pakastan made jacket. I'll act all suprised Christmas morning. If I can muster it up, I'll drop a tear for her. lol
I've had the vented jacket for about a week. Really nice jacket. I ordered the Grayson jacket originally but it was a tad too large so I did an exchange to go down one size and switched to the racing jacket while I was at it. Fit is a little snug with the liner in but it'll loosen up some as I wear it more I'm sure.
One thing I did notice is the liner in the sleeves of the racing jacket has a tendency to extend out past the sleeve a half inch or so when I pull the jacket on. Enough that I find myself tucking it back in under the sleeve. Especially the left sleeve. Wanted to see if anybody else has noticed this and if it's normal.
