I read of a lot of people who uses gasoline to clean odd and ends when doing maintenance chores on their bikes.
Once upon a time gasoline was a mixture of various hydrocarbons, with added tetra-ethyl lead as an anti-knock. It was supposed to be toxic, in long term constant exposure. But you could actually suck gas with a tube to fill a jerrycan and if you got some in your mouth, it just tasted awful.
In their infinite wisdom, our governments have decided that the "evil" tetra-ethyl lead had to go. So we now get BENZENE in our gas as anti-knock.
BENZENE is one of the worst carcinogenic substances in the world.
Dying in a bike crash sucks, but it's peachy compared with dying of leukemy.
If you need a cleaning agent, try WD-40 or something similar, and if you need a solvent, use acetone in a well ventilated area. Stay away from gasoline as much as you can, and try avoid breathin the fumes when filling up.
We already have to confront too many threats from distracted drivers and idiotic texting teen agers on four wheels to add self-poisoning to the scenario.

It depends on how much you use.
This guy obviously used too much and now is left crying on the wasted hamburgers.

Of course benzene is going to be in gasoline. Gasoline, kerosene, mineral spirits are all derived from petroleum, which is made up of various complex hydrocarbons. Guess what those various hydrocarbons are made of=== carbon & hydrogen in benzene rings in various formations with other elements/compounds attached. Yes, I can see free benzene being in gasoline @ a ppm/ppb/ppt level from the production/distillation process anyway. Oh, and my Chevelle still uses the leaded/lead-substituted gasoline.

Lots of benzene in cigarettes too. People suck that stuff in directly.

And formaldehyde, which in it's straight form, is what you are embolmbed(SP?) with when you die.
