I bought one from Leatheup and for the price and I felt the jacket was worth it. I took the advice to order one size and was glad I did but it still was little snug. If it wasn't for the beer gut it would be fine. However, the jacket I got has velcro to snug the end of the sleeves and I really don't like the way they function. I have since bought a Harley jacket that I wear much more often. I will probably put the Xelement up for sale.

I have purchased two X-Element jackets, several helmets, and one pair of boots from LeatherUp so far. All excellent quality stuff. The one jacket I bought for riding is vented and armored with lots of pockets, a full sleeve removable liner, high quality YKK zippers, rolled edge on collar and cuffs, and nice heavyweight leather. The quality really blew me away, and all for $150 bucks.

I also have several Harley jackets and one Protech. The X-Element stuff is just as good for a fraction of the price.

I have Harley leather and some leather-up items as well, I have had no
problem with the leather-up stuff it is just that their sizing sucks. I wear
a 2X in just about everything made, BUT in the two leather-up jackets I
have it is a 4X that fits, just be careful about sizing if you look at their
stuff, just my 2 cents.

I have a 20+ year old Wilson jacket. The zippers and snaps all work as well as they worked when I got. I bought a pair of no-name chaps for $70 from a street vendor the last day of sturgis. Zippers and snaps still work fine. I bought a $400 harley jacket and a $250 pair of harley chaps 2 years ago. The snaps come loose on both the jacket and chaps and the zippers are kinda shaky. The leather is fine. I could go for cheaper leather and better hardware.I think that they're all made in China regardless of the brand name. The best Chinese will never be of equal quality to poorest US of A quality. If your able to find the old US made HD stuff, I don't think you'll find anything better. Just my buck and a quarter for what it's worth.

I picked up a jacket from leatherup and I'm happy with it. If you buy from them or Open Road you have to bear in mind the lower cost jackets are split leather so they are fine as a medium jacket for "cool" weather but not so good for "cold" weather. At least by themselves. I wear a leather vest over or under the one I have when it gets "cold" then it works fine. Just something to keep in mind. The "Cool Rider" jacket I bought with plenty of vent zippers was made in Pakistan not China. Not that it matters because it wasn't made in the USA either way.

For a bit more money, much heavier leather, and better quality; Fox Creek has some great fans on this forum. Then there are the Langlitz, Vanson, and Schott fans. Good stuff but I've never tried one on. They might be worth the price if you wear it enough.

If I need another jacket it will come from Fox Creek most likely.

I bought a x-element from leatherup for 59 bucks. great quality for the price. Just remember they run a size smaller than normal. Its the classic black biker jacket. Its been great so far. I did take out the rubber armour because the jacket was too stiff for me with it in. So far the coldest I have rode in with it was 30 and it kept me warm.

Happy with my leather up stuff (X-element).

It is fine quality for the price and NO way I would pay $400-600 for HD stuff. The quality is the same IMHO.

I have no experience with Fox Creek or others..

I bought a XElement leather jacket (the perfectto clone) for a winter coat (I have a Harley 3-in-1 for riding). It has kept me warm in temps as low as -15 C up to now with just a hoodie under it.

I did order the wrong size though, my Harley jacket was a 46 so I ordered that, and damn was it too small. Sent it back for a 50, leatherup exchanged it no problem.

As for quality, it's well made, hasn't had any problems so far and the leather is passable. For 79$, hard to go wrong with it.

I GOT A TRADITIONAL JACKET FROM JAFROM FOR ABOUT 69 BUCKS AND A PR OF CHAPS FOR 40 BUCKS, THE JACKET WAS PRETTY GOOD QUALITY BUT DIDN'T FIT, SO I TRADED IT FOR A 6YR OLD HYWY ONE THAT IS HOLDING UP GREAT, THE CHAPS HAD VELCRO POCKET CLOSE SO I IMMEDIATELY RIPPED THAT OUT AND PUT ON SNAPS, CUT OFF TWO INCHES FROM LEGS TO FIT, REPLACED TWO ZIPPERS IN TWO YRS WITH BETTER QUALITY AND AM SEWING IN A HOME MADE LINER, I EXPECT THEM TO LAST AS LONG AS I DO, I HAVE A TOTAL OF 70 BUCKS IN AND THEY ARE A LITTLE CUSTOM DONE UP TO MY LIKING. I RIDE IN THE TWENTIES AND THE LAST WEEK I HAVE BEEN RIDING IN A LOT OF WET SNOW AND THEY DO FINE. THERE ARE DEFINATLY BETTER LEATHER OUT THERE, I GOT A BUD WHO SELLS UTIL OR SOMETHING LIKE THAT FOR UNDER 200 THAT ARE REAL GOOD BUT FOR THE MONEY MINE KEEP ME WARM, HAVE A ROUGH BROKE IN COWBOY LOOK N FEEL AND ARE PRETTY DAM COMFY, I WOULD NEVER EVEN CONSIDER PAYING MORE THAN 250 TOPS FOR A JACKET AND GOOD EXTRA WARM CHAPS CAN BE HAD FOR A BUCK N A QUARTER. I JUST GOT MY OLE LADY A PIR OF CHAPS THAT HAVE TWO POCKETS (DEEP) ON EITHER SIDE SND SUPER HEAV DUTY REMOVABLE LINER FOR 125. I WOULD MUCH RATHER PUT THE MONEY INTO THE BIKE THAN WEAR IT, BUT THAT'S JUST ME.

sorry for the friggin caps but i aint doin it over

The first leather "Biker" style jacket I bought was from Leatherup. I bought it on a whim before checking around. As earlier stated "You get what you pay for." I quickly replaced my riding leather with a Fox Creek.

As for the other "casual" type leather jackets they sell I have no experience, but I guess it would depend on who you hang with and where you go when you wear the thing. A fashion conscious person could probably see you are wearing a cheap coat ... just like a biker can see you are wearing a cheap "biker" leather coat.

I do like the boots they sell though. I have bought three pairs from them over the years.
