Very sad indeed. Sorry for the husband. Our little group has been together for awhile but things happen. I know my worst fear is having something happen to my wife because of me.
That has to be everyone's worst nightmare. I know it's mine. Another reason why I avoid riding in groups. If I'm going to go down, it isn't going to be because of someone else's moment of inattention.
I agree. I've ridden with a few folks, but I really do prefer to ride by myself. Sounds like the driver in this case was the one not paying attention.
So very sorry to hear this. Prayers go out to friends and family... Let's be careful out there folks. Even though we may not have personally known the victims, we're all saddened in a special, understanding way. Another one of the bonds we share as riders.
I am sorry for the loss of your friend's wife in this tragic manner. Although the thought of riding with a large group of friends sounds like great fun, I avoid doing so because of the number of times I have heard of riders running into each other due to inattention. Prayers for the husband and their family.
My last accident was caused by a similar situation. I was leaving a bike rally, by myself, but quickly found myself in the middle of about 20 bikes. The guy behind me was way too close, and wasn't paying attention when his left side highway peg slammed into my lower straight cut exhaust pipe. He, his bike, and his girlfriend went rolling down the road behind me. I somehow managed to keep my 3 month, 1500 miles old Street Bob upright, but it sustained enough damage to keep it in the shop for 2 1/2 months of prime summer riding time. He and his GF got banged up quite a bit, but survived, thank God. Although I heard she vowed never to get back on the back of a motor bike again. Serves him right.
When I was starting out riding, I thought there was nothing cooler than riding in a pack. Now it scares the crapola outta me.
My thoughts and prayers are with the family. Lets not condem group rides cuz they do so much good, cancer runs, toy runs, childrens hospital etc. Maybe better rules, ride captains or such, sad news. ride safe
